Knowledge is Power

These books are selected to guide you toward embodied awareness, relational depth, and meaningful engagement in life. They explore how our bodies hold experience, how our internal parts shape our stories, and how we can open to connection—with ourselves, each other, and the wider world. Use them as companions for reflection, growth, and integration.

No Bad Parts

This book introduces the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model in accessible form, asserting that what we’ve often labeled “bad” inner parts are actually protective voices trying to help. It offers an invitation to understand, honor, and integrate these parts to support healing from trauma and return to wholeness.

The Ethical Slut

A foundational guide to consensual non‑monogamy and open relationships, this book emphasizes communication, boundaries, and ethical practice in sexual and romantic connections.

Dissociation Made Simple

This book offers an accessible, compassionate guide to understanding dissociation, how it shows up in everyday life and healing, and blends somatic awareness and therapeutic practices.

Come As You Are

A science‑based, sex‑positive exploration of female sexuality, exploring the influences of stress, context, and cultural myth on desire and arousal by Emily Nagoski.

Pause, Rest, Be

A160‑page guide that combines personal reflection, yoga philosophy and restorative‑yoga practices to help readers navigate change, transitions and the “in‑between” spaces of life. By Octavia F. Raheem. Referred to me by the amazing clinician and coach Mallory Burggraaf

Burnout

Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle by Emily and Amelia Nagoski explains that burnout occurs when the body’s stress response doesn’t fully complete, often due to societal and self-imposed pressures to endlessly give. The book emphasizes that rest, movement, connection, and self-compassion are essential to “closing the stress cycle” and preventing chronic exhaustion. It provides practical strategies for managing stress while challenging cultural expectations that fuel overwork and emotional depletion.

Understanding the Borderline Mother

Understanding the Borderline Mother by Christine Ann Lawson explores how mothers with borderline personality traits can create unpredictable, emotionally intense environments that impact their children’s development. Lawson identifies four archetypes—the Waif, Hermit, Queen, and Witch—to illustrate common patterns of maternal behavior and their effects on children’s sense of self, boundaries, and trust. The book also provides guidance for adult children and therapists on recognizing these dynamics, establishing healthier boundaries, and fostering personal healing and autonomy.

I am residing on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Osage Nation, the Illini Confederacy (including the Cahokia, Kaskaskia, Michigamea, Peoria, and Tamaroa peoples), and other Indigenous nations who have stewarded this land for generations. These lands—now known as St. Louis, Missouri—were home to complex societies long before European colonization, including the ancient Mississippian culture that built the nearby city of Cahokia, once one of the largest urban centers in North America.

These Indigenous communities lived, loved, and thrived along the Mississippi and Missouri rivers, maintaining deep relationships with the land, water, and all living things. I honor the enduring presence, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous peoples—past, present, and future—and commit to respecting their sovereignty and right to self-determination. Liberation for all. Land back.
